JAMMU, Dec 28: The Jammu Chamber of Industries and Commerce president, Arun Gupta has said that a big relief has been accorded to the dealers with the amnesty scheme.
The Chamber president expressed his deep gratitude to the Manoj Sinha, LG UT of J&K, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to LG, Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary UT of J&K for accepting our long pending demand regarding granting amnesty for settlement of tax arrears pertaining to Pre GST regime for the dealers who could not take the benefit of earlier amnesty scheme issued vide order no. 39-F-D of 2018 due to various reasons especially Covid-19 pandemic.
Gupta said that this amnesty scheme will provide relief to the dealers on 100% waiver of penalty and interest under general sales tax act 1962, Central Sales Tax 1956 and VAT Act 2005. He further said that this decision of the Government will result in minimizing the tax dispute cases.
Arun Gupta requests the business community to avail tax benefit of this amnesty scheme by depositing the tax arrears within the prescribed time limit.
He further said that during the initial stage of implementing the GST scheme there were some technical / other minor mistakes on the part of the dealers/ assesses due to unawareness about GST scheme. Chamber requests the government that those dealers / assesses should be given one time opportunity to settle their cases especially for the period 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.
Gupta also requests the Government/NHAI to reconsider the decision of enhancing the toll tax by 100% at Nashri Toll Plaza as it will effect the business community/general public badly.
