A new pro-Kamala Harris digital asset advocacy group known as Crypto4Harris is slated to host its first town hall featuring billionaire Mark Cuban and Rep. Wiley Nickel next Wednesday, August 14, the crypto political collective announced Tuesday.

Mark Cuban, Wiley Nickel Support New Crypto4Harris Initiative

According to a recent X post from Crypto4Harris, the upcoming town hall will include “elected officials, policy leaders, and industry heavyweights” from the blockchain sector who are expected to discuss how eager individuals may want to “support the campaign.”

While not much is known about its founding, Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that organizers include Crypto Council for Innovation CEO Sheila Warren and Snickerdoodle Labs founder and CEO Jonathan Padilla, among others.

“I’m looking forward to speaking at the Crypto4Harris virtual town hall next week,” Congressman Wiley Nickel (D-NC) wrote in an X post. “As Democrats and @KamalaHarris supporters, we want to encourage innovation and protect consumers. Allowing crypto to become a political football is only going to set the US further behind.”

Trump Brothers Tease Major Crypto Announcement

News of Crypto4Harris’ founding and subsequent town hall came as both Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. teased the launch of a “big announcement” seemingly related to decentralized finance.

“We’re about to shake up the crypto world with something HUGE,” Trump Jr. shared to social media Wednesday. “Decentralized finance is the future—don’t get left behind.”

While Trump Jr. failed to elaborate on just exactly what his family was planning, he added the hashtags crypto, defi and BeDeFiant to his post.

Trump has largely embraced cryptocurrencies on the campaign trail, recently promising audiences at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference that he would make the United States the “crypto capital of the planet.”

Meanwhile, Harris has stayed relatively mum in regards to her stance on digital assets. However, the former top prosecutor has garnered flack from members of the crypto community for her connection to current U.S. President Joe Biden’s support of a regulation-by-enforcement approach to crypto rulemaking.

Crypto4Harris may signal a needed shift for Harris to win over crucial crypto voters ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election – before it’s too late.
