The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that recipients of four specific benefits could be eligible for an additional £749 per payment period.
The annual increase for disability benefits, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Attendance Allowance, and Carer’s Allowance, will commence on April 7.
This 1.7 per cent rise implies that those receiving all qualifying disability benefits will receive an extra £29.20 to £187.45 each week. This translates to between £116.80 and £749.80 per payment period.
The maximum amount of £749.80 is based on someone receiving the highest amount for both daily living and mobility components. The Attendance Allowance does not include a mobility element.
Over the course of a year, recipients of the highest amounts could receive up to £9,747 in additional support.
The estimated weekly rates for each benefit for daily living components at the lower care award have increased to £29.20 (from £28.70) for CDP and DLA only, while the standard rate will rise to £73.90 (from £72.65).
The enhanced rate will increase to £110.40 (from £108.55). The standard level Mobility rates will rise to £29.20 (from £28.70), and the enhanced level will increase to £77.05 (from £75.75), according to Birmingham Live, reports the Mirror.
The lower rates for Attendance Allowance will move to £73.90 (from £72.65), and the higher rate will be £110.40 (from £108.55).
The weekly payments for Carer’s Allowance are set to increase from £81.90 to £83.30, and for a four-week pay period, the payment will rise from £327.60 to £333.20. The weekly earnings threshold for Carer’s Allowance in England and Wales will also see an uplift, moving from £151 to £196, equivalent to 16 hours at the National Living Wage.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), but typically, an assessment needs to be completed before your claim for PIP is approved. This assessment can be conducted in person, over the phone or via video call.
