DWP Cold Weather Payment triggered in 441 areas in UK – full list of postcodes

The Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather warnings for snow and ice across the UK as the nation experiences dropping temperatures. In addition to the weather warnings, the UK Health Security Agency has also issued various cold health alerts until January 9.

As a result, more than 670,000 households across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland have now qualified for a £25 support payment from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Cold Weather Payments are triggered when temperatures in a certain area fall to zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days.

Millions of benefit claimants are eligible for the payment, including those who receive Pension Credit. Those who receive Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit, or Support for Mortgage Interest may also qualify. However, additional criteria may apply.

Those who are not on Pension Credit, being eligible for the payment typically has additional requirements, such as having a health condition or disability, caring responsibilities, or children aged under five years old or with a disability.

You can check if your postcode qualifies for a payment via coldweatherpayments.dwp.gov.uk, where you can select a nation, enter your postcode, and find out whether payments are triggered within your area.
