Energy firm E.On is sending customers a message offering customers free energy – for one day only.
The energy firm has emailed customers on its E.ON Next tariffs offering them the chance to claim a special offer which will mean direct money off bills this Sunday.
The firm is pushing customers to download its E.ON Next app on Android or iPhone
Customers who do so and then log into the app within 24 hours will be handed £5 free electricity to use on October 31.
That might not sound like a lot but for an average household with a typical energy bill of £1,717 per year, £5 would more than cover one whole day’s gas and electricity use combined.
One day of dual fuel usage for a typical household would cost £4.70 based on the Ofgem price cap calculations, so the EON offer is more than a whole day’s free energy for a typical use household.
E.On said: “Here’s a scarily good deal for Halloween! Get a day’s free electricity1 on us, just by following three simple steps:
“1. Download the E.ON Next app now. 2. Login to your account within 48 hours. 3. Claim £5 free electricity this 31 October”
“Our app makes it easy to take control of your energy, whether you want to check your latest bill or track how much you’re using.
“So don’t miss out on claiming £5 free electricity this Halloween. Just download the app for Apple or Android now – and remember to login and claim your special offer …before it’s too late!”
The deal will only apply on October 31 and the £5 bill credit will be applied regardless of what you use.
EON added: “Between 1 October to 31 December 2024 the energy price cap is set at £1,717 per year for a typical household on an Standard Variable Tariff, who use electricity and gas and pay by Direct Debit. This means that the £5 credit could cover one day of electricity usage for an average household in the UK. Your actual usage may vary.”
