Family-run cleaning company collapses into administration – 12 years in business

A family-run cleaning business has collapsed into administration. It has been confirmed that administrators were appointed to save the company on Tuesday, February 3.

G.O.N Cleaning Services Limited, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was established in 2014 and specialises in professional, commercial and residential cleaning. According to its website, the business provides a number of services, including window cleaning and general maintenance.

Zana O’Neil, the company’s managing director, said online: “For over 10 years we have been the first port of call for many businesses across both public and private sectors seeking to contract-out all aspects of cleaning and facilities management. I am proud that we continue to support businesses in every way we can so that they can focus on serving the public which, for some of our clients, involves literally life-saving work.

“Not least during the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses are coming to terms with the importance of cleaning services and the continuity a reliable service like ours provides. Prospective clients can feel reassured by our experience providing services to a number of facilities, not limited to healthcare, residential, retail, offices and leisure outlets.

“Our methodical, transparent and collaborative approach to service delivery is at the heart of everything we do. We take the time to understand your business and how we can best support your environment – that is why we are not an agency and so much more than a contractor! We look forward to meeting new clients and absorbing new challenges.”

However, George Lafferty, of Begbies Traynor LLP, has been appointed as administrator following the collapse of G.O.N Cleaning Services Limited. It is unclear how many people the company employs.

The news comes after a number of other British businesses have already plunged into administration in 2026. The high street continues to struggle as businesses grapple with soaring costs and declining footfall.

Five big brands, including Claire’s, The Original Factory Shop, Quiz Clothing, Game, and Malin and Goetz, have collapsed this year. Thousands of employees have been impacted by shop closures up and down the UK.
