A majority of Polymarket bettors are predicting that a prominent technologist who passed away in 2011 will be revealed as the anonymous Bitcoin creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, in HBO’s upcoming documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, set to premiere on October 8.

Is Len Sassaman the True Identity of Satoshi Nakamoto? Polymarket Bettors Weigh In

According to a recent Polymarket poll, 51% of voters believe Sassaman, an American technologist who died in 2011, could be the anonymous Bitcoin founder.

Sassaman, a prominent figure in the cypherpunk community and a member of the Internet Engineering Task Force, published several cryptography works that fueled theories about his connection to the creation of Bitcoin.

Other contenders for the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto include Californian software developer Hal Finney, who was among the earliest Bitcoin users before passing away in 2014 due to ALS complications.

A small number of bets have also gone to computer scientist Nick Szabo, Blockstream CEO Adam Back, systems engineer Dorian Nakamoto, and programmer and cartel boss Paul Le Roux.

While 42% of voters back Sassaman as the most likely candidate, 27% think the Bitcoin inventor could be someone else entirely or even a small group of people.

Will Satoshi Nakamoto’s Identity Finally Be Revealed?

Excitement is building as the crypto community anticipates the October 8 premiere of HBO’s Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, a documentary that may finally unveil the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.

According to a teaser for the Cullen Hoback-directed film, the filmmakers may have identified Satoshi—though the trailer does not explicitly confirm this.

If identified, Satoshi Nakamoto would be one of the richest individuals in the world; estimates suggest his net worth is around $66 billion, thanks to his control over a large portion of Bitcoin.

The Satoshi Nakamoto identity has been one of the greatest mysteries in the cryptocurrency space with this latest poll reigniting speculation.

Australian computer scientist and businessman Craig Wright, who has long claimed to be the legendary crypto inventor, posted a statement on his website reiterating his claim.

However, earlier this year, a British High Court judge ruled that Wright was not Satoshi Nakamoto.

“The Court found that Dr. Wright lied to the Court extensively and repeatedly in his evidence and that he attempted to create a false narrative by forging documents on a grand scale,” reads a court-ordered disclaimer on Wright’s website. “All his lies and forged documents were in support of his biggest lie: his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto.”

Wright is now facing potential perjury charges from England’s Crown Prosecution Service stemming from his assertion that he is the unknown Bitcoin creator.
