Lloyds and Halifax to close combined 21 branches in May – full list

Lloyds Bank and Halifax – both part of the Lloyds Banking Group – will close 21 branches in May as part of wider plans to shut 266 branches in total. Of those, 116 will shut over the next 12 months, as some will see their shutters brought down for good in 2026.

Lloyds isn’t the only major banking chain to announce closures. Santander and NatWest have also confirmed they will shut some branches. All have cited customers’ shifts from in-person banking to online banking as a primary reason for the decision. However, the closures will likely compound the misery of Britain’s High Streets, which are already struggling.

Below is a list of the Lloyds Banking group closures coming in May. A full list of Lloyds and Halifax closures can be found here.

Bank closures will come as a concern, especially for older or disabled customers who rely on local, easily accessible branches.

People in rural areas may also struggle as thrse areas can have poor internet connectivity, making online banking difficult.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) says banks must ensure that, when they are closing branches, people in the local community can still access their money.
