Lloyds and Nationwide customers among thousands locked out of online banking

The outage monitor Downdetector said 4,000 users of the Lloyds Bank app had reported technical issues, including accessing and making payments.

Halifax, TSB, Bank of Scotland banking apps were also down; Halifax and Bank of Scotland are part of the Lloyds Banking Group.

Nationwide and First Direct customers also suffered issues that are leaving them locked out of their accounts on payday according to Downdetector.

DownDetector said the issues started at around 8am on Friday and affected customers across the UK.

Nationwide customers were also reporting problems. On X the building society updated its customers and said it was working to get things back to normal.

Nationwideposted: “We’re aware of some issues affecting our services this morning. Some incoming and outgoing payments are delayed. They are in a queue and will arrive ASAP.”

Helen Kenan posted: “@AskNationwidesays service is ok but no accounts uploading. Cannot use my accounts for anything. What is going on?”

Nationwide replied: “Sorry, some account information may not be displaying online at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as we can.

@becky86173 posted: @AskNationwide morning, account balances aren’t updating. I’ve just transferred my bills money from NatWest to Nationwide and it’s not updated. I’ve checked app and via online banking on a browser.

On X Lloyds Bank was telling customers who were having trouble logging in or making a payment, to close their app from running in the background “& then reopen it”.
