Martin Lewis issues ‘act now’ warning to Tesco Clubcard holders before Saturday

Money Saving Expert’s Martin Lewis says shoppers who do not want to use the vouchers can extend them to use them later, but they will need to act fast.

He is urging people who think they may have Tesco Clubcard vouchers to check them now as they are only valid for two years from the date of issue.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, the finance guru said: “Tesco shopper? You’ve just DAYS left to use £18 million worth of Clubcard vouchers.”

If you are unsure when yours expire and you have them in a paper format, you can check the date on the paper voucher.

If you’ve lost your paper vouchers, or not sure whether you have received paper vouchers you can check them via the Tesco Clubcard site or using the app on your phone.

How to check your Tesco Clubcard vouchers

You will need to have a Tesco.com account and know your Clubcard voucher, which will be on your Clubcard key fob or card.

Then go to the website and select ‘Clubcard account’ and then ‘vouchers’, you should then see a table listing any available vouchers, as well as wehen they expire.

If you are using the Tesco app, open it up and go to ‘clubcard’ and then ‘vouchers’. You can download the app via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

How to use your Tesco Clubcard vouchers

Once you’ve found your vouchers, you can spend them online using a code or you can print your vouchers or scan the barcode available in the app to use in store at a checkout.

Lewis says shopper can double the value of their vouchers by spending them with one of Tesco’s Reward Partners which includes Disney+, Legoland, and Pizza Express.

Lewis says: “For example, 500 points are usually worth £5 to spend at Tesco – but if you exchange your vouchers for codes to use with a Reward Partner, 500 points are worth £10.”

How to extend your Tesco Clubcard vouchers

Lewis says you may be able to extend your vouchers, but you will need to do this by 11.59pm on Saturday 30 November. It can be quite fiddly so you will need to work out whether it is worth it.

First you make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page or you donate to one of its partner charities. The remaining balance is credited back to your Clubcard account as points which you can then use within the next two years.

If spend 50p using a £5 Clubcard voucher, you’ll get 450 points back, worth £4.50.

Points can be swapped for vouchers manually or converted with your next statement.

There is no minimum spend, so you can buy a 50p restaurant voucher (worth £1 at your chosen restaurant) and then take the rest of the voucher as points to spend later..

Warning though, under the Clubcard T&Cs, Tesco can refuse a Reward Partner order if it decides you are trying to redeeming vouchers just to extend their validity.
