Martin Lewis’s Money Saving Expert (MSE) has spotlighted the Santander Edge current account as a “top” choice for managing household bills — especially with a limited-time offer giving new and existing customers a free £30 Amazon voucher. The deal, which ends this Sunday, allows customers to open a Santander Edge account via MSE’s link without needing to switch from their current bank.
The account, described in MSE’s weekly newsletter as its “top-pick bills and joint bills account,” costs £3 a month but offers cashback perks that can easily “outweigh” the fee for many users. Customers earn 1% cashback (up to £10 per month) on key household bills paid by Direct Debit, including council tax, energy, water, broadband, and more.
There’s also a separate 1% cashback (also capped at £10 per month) on spending at supermarkets, petrol stations, and on travel using the account’s debit card.
Additionally, MSE said the debit card offers “near-perfect” exchange rates for spending abroad.
MSE highlights that the account can be used alongside your main account, making it ideal for setting up as a dedicated bills account. To qualify for the cashback, customers must pay in at least £500 each month.

Halifax’s Reward current account pays £5 cashback when customers pay in at least £1,500/month per month. For those who don’t meet the monthly minimum, there’s a £3 monthly fee and the £5 cashback won’t be paid. People can also choose from one monthly reward: One free cinema ticket, an extra £5 paid into the account, or three digital magazines.
To qualify for the reward, customers either spend £500 on their debit card each month or keep £5000 or above in the account each day of the month. In addition to this, they must pay in £1,500 or more into the account each month and remain in credit (keeping the balance at £0 or above).
