Octopus Energy customers handed £200 Amazon vouchers for ditching BT, Virgin and Sky

Octopus Energy customers are being offered £200 Amazon vouchers if they ditch their current broadband provider.

Whether you’re with BT, Virgin, Sky, TalkTalk or another firm, Octopus Energy is giving its customers a £200 incentive to lure customers to switch to broadband firm Cuckoo.

Any Octopus customer who has signed up to its Octoplus rewards scheme can switch and take up fibreoptic speeds of up to a blistering 900Mbps as well as taking the £200 to spend on Amazon.

For a standard 24-month contract, customers signing up for full fibre speeds of 150Mbps will receive a £100 gift card, for 500Mbps a £150 gift card, and for a blazing 900Mbps a £200 gift card.

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Product Officer at Octopus Energy, said: “It’s great to welcome Cuckoo on board as an Octoplus member – we’re looking forward to seeing these deals fly off the shelves.”

Paul Hellings, CEO of Cuckoo, commented: “We’re proud to partner with the amazing Octopus, a company as obsessed with customer service as we are.

“As Octopus did, my team is tearing up the outdated broadband rulebook, and delivering blazing speeds with no-nonsense customer service. Great deals are just the beginning.

“This deal with Octopus Energy, uniquely available through the ‘Octoplus’ app, helps establish Cuckoo as a major broadband player as we look to realise our ultimate vision in becoming the UK’s most recommended way to connect.”

To join ‘Octoplus’, customers must receive electricity from Octopus Energy, have a functioning electricity smart meter that provides half-hourly readings and pay via Direct Debit. Business customers and smart prepayment customers can also join ‘Octoplus’.

The deal is attempting to lure customers away from the major broadband providers, who are all increasing bills this April.

Virgin Media has announced flat price rises of £3.50 for customers who took out contracts recently, or 3.9% increases for those who took out a contract before January 9.

Sky Broadband announced a 6.2% price rise for broadband and TV customers, although with Sky you can leave with 30 days’ notice mid-contract on broadband because Sky doesn’t give pounds and pence figures.

And BT has announced a £3 per month price increase for broadband from April, as well as £1.50 for mobile SIMs and £2 for EE TV.

Cuckoo Broadband itself increases prices by a flat £3 every April for 24-month contracts.

Those who are out of contract can freely switch providers without penalty.
