Britons can earn hundreds of pounds by allowing film crews and photographers to shoot in their properties.
Hosts in London can earn as much as £550 per booking on average, depending on the features in their home, according to private venue booking site, Giggster.
The top earning features in London include a home office, glass doors, and a kitchen island, which boosts the average value up to £665.
Tyler Quiel, CEO of Giggster said: “Renting your property by the hour can be a great side hustle to earn extra income.
“You can rent your space as a venue for photoshoots, music videos, short films or even an entertaining space, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure success.”
First, Mr Quiel suggested people get a grasp of the value of their properties. He said: “Research similar properties to price yours appropriately and adjust rates based on the production size and any extra services you offer.
“We’d recommend a starting price of around £100 to £200 per hour to help attract short, simple projects.”
However, he noted: “As the host, you have the freedom to discount or increase your price based on the shoot and crew sizes and outline factors such as preparation and clearing of shoots.”
He urged people to also consider what property’s unique selling point is, and factor this in. He said: “What gives your home the potential to be a backdrop for a shoot or event? Whether your home has unique period features, large seating areas, or a quirky aesthetic, you need to title your listing to highlight why renters would be interested.”
Secondly, Mr Quiel stressed the importance of sharing high-quality photos of the property on designated sites to gain better traction.
He said: “High-quality photos are essential to attract renters, so make sure your property is well-represented in the listing.
“Additionally, ensure your property is large enough to accommodate the crew and equipment, and always vet potential renters carefully. Set clear house rules to protect your home from any unexpected changes or damage.”
He added: “Do not be afraid to ask questions and ensure the project is a good fit before accepting offers. Following these tips can help you maximise your earnings while keeping your property safe.”
