Georgia Congressman Mike Collins has announced on Wednesday he is now accepting cryptocurrency donations for his congressional campaign.
Collins, a strong supporter of emerging tech, believes that the U.S. must adapt to innovations like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and crypto to remain competitive in the global financial system.
“America has been held back by our reluctance to adapt to emerging technology, whether that be AI, machine learning, or alternative assets like crypto,” said Collins.
“I hope that by introducing this platform, I can destigmatize the crypto industry and advance the future of global finance and innovation,” adds Collins.
Alternative Digital Assets Remain Underrepresented in Congress
The congressman stressed that alternative digital assets—including Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins, and even memecoins—are widely used worldwide but remain underrepresented in Congress.
By accepting cryptocurrency donations, Collins hopes to encourage more lawmakers to acknowledge and support the rapidly growing digital economy.
A businessman and trucking industry veteran, Collins has also made a name for himself as an active cryptocurrency trader. He made headlines as the first sitting member of Congress to trade memecoins.
Trump Announces US Crypto Reserve
US President Donald Trump announced plans on holding Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple, Solana, and Cardano in a newly proposed Crypto Strategic Reserve.
Collins has shown his support toward Trump and his crypto reserve plans on the social media platform X. By endorsing this proposal, Collins continues to position himself as a leading voice for crypto-friendly regulation, pushing for policies that recognize digital assets as legitimate financial instruments rather than threats to the economy
