Revolut app down as customers are locked out of their accounts

Revolut has confirmed that technical issues and “glitches” have now been fixed in an apology to customers locked out of their accounts this morning.

More than 700 complaints flooded the website Downdetector, with problems first reported at around 7.30am.

Disgruntled customers took to social media platform X to share their experiences, with one stating: “Something is really wrong with Revolut App.”

Another added: “Revolut just stopped working out of nowhere … people’s money should work 24/7, non-stop.”

Others have shared concerns about the lack of access to their money while travelling. One X user wrote: “Revolut down and I’m about to in an hour arrive in a foreign country with no access to funds.” (sic)

According to Downdetector, 49% of reported problems pertained to Revolut’s mobile banking, while 29% reported problems when transferring funds. A further 25% reported issues logging into the app.

Now, the problem has been resolved, Revolut has said.

A Revolut spokesperson stated: “We experienced a technical issue this morning with our app that impacted some of our customers. The issue was quickly identified and has now been fixed, with the app back working fully for those affected.

“Many of our customers were unaffected by this and all our customers’ money and data remain safe. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Revolut is a digital bank that offers a range of services, including stock trading and cryptocurrency exchange.

It recently came under fire after a BBC Panorama investigation highlighted concerns about its handling of scams.
