Slash tumble dryer bill by ‘up to 40%’ by adding one item to machine

With the cost of living showing no signs of easing, many of us are on the lookout for ways to save money.

As bills pile up and food prices soar, it’s no wonder people are searching for simple ways to cut back. According to Laura Maycock, a popular TikTok user known as the_home_we_made, there’s an easy hack that could help you slash your tumble dryer bill by “up to 40%”.

In a recent video, Laura shared her clever tip, leaving viewers amazed at how straightforward it is. The game-changing gadget, available on Amazon and elsewhere, is a simple ball that you add to your tumble dryer.

Laura explained: “If you’re like me, and your tumble dryer is on all the time, you need to get yourself one of these balls, and save up to 40% on your dry bill.

“Not only that but, when I’ve been using it now for the last two weeks, it has literally cut the drying time in half. The ultra-reflective tech bounces heat back into your laundry to minimize the drying time.

“When doing the sheets as well, it smooths out creases and wrinkles. I bought ours for £9.99 on Amazon.”

Since sharing the video, which has been viewed over 4,000 times, opinions have been divided. One concerned viewer asked: “Would it not be loud bouncing around in the dryer?”

Laura reassured them, replying: “Not if you’ve got lots in it. If it’s not a full wash, then it might.”

Adding to the chorus of home laundry tips, another suggested: “Put in a large bath towel as well. It makes things dry quicker.”

Meanwhile, someone else shared: “Just get a dehumidifier and completely cut your dryer bill!”

However, Amazon customers have been left thrilled after trying the balls. Though opinions varied, most seemed to think they work a treat.

One shopper wrote: “This worked well to reduce drying cycles for me. Good value for money when you weigh up the costs against the money it will save you. Only negative is that it will make those cycles noisier in your drum!”

Another added: “This ball has cut my drying time by 20 to 25 minutes! I can’t wait to get my next electric bill to see my savings!”
